Characato is located in the Pampa de Olaen, Punilla Valley. This place is known as “Villa del Silencio”, since the only thing that can be heard is the movement of the river water or the singing of birds among the fruit trees.
Characato in the Comechingones language means Land of Water, and refers to the winding riverbed that runs through it. Upon arrival we will have that postcard of a town with separate houses, in a valley surrounded by mountains and with the imposing Cerro Characato (1637 meters) watching over it in the background, guardian of that reigning peace.
From its summit we will have a beautiful view of the valley, town and chapel.
Before beginning the return we will visit the Bandurrias Waterfall and approach the chapel consecrated to Our Lady of the Rosary of the Miracle
It originates in 1591 and, although today it remains closed, it immediately attracts attention due to its location.
This low difficulty trek is intended for those people who want to enjoy the beautiful postcards that this corner of the mountains of Córdoba has to offer.

We will meet in Córdoba to travel to Characato in the Punilla valley, Córdoba. Characato forms an unusual and extremely attractive landscape, combining the magic of a small place next to the hills that surround it. Once there, we will begin the trekking to Cerro Characato (1637mts) between talks and obligatory breaks to take photographs.
and it will take about three hours to reach the summit of the Colchiquí hill. On the way we will cross a small forest of molles, espinillos, talas and carob trees, then among coconuts and romerillos and at the end. Once we have reached the ridge we will continue the march towards the hill and its point. higher. From there the panoramic view will allow us to observe the valley, the chapel and the rest of the mountains in the background. We will have time to rest as a well-deserved reward for our effort!
We will return to the base to go to the Bandurrias waterfall, we will take the time to enjoy the place. Finally, we will visit the Chapel area, which presents an interesting photographic postcard. After this, we will begin the return to Córdoba to end the activity.
